Position: Parent Partner & Crossover Partner

We are all about helping students CROSSOVER from death to life (John 5:24)

Often, Crossover has extracurricular events that require more people, resources, and energy than the typical Wednesday night. Such as: Wingdew, Bonfires, Paint War, and more.

We would like to gather a list of parents or others who would be willing to help out at these extra events occasionally. Not only is this a great benefit to the students, and help to the rest of the Crossover team, but it shows students the church in action and helps us all take on the mantle of disciplining the next generation.

Ways to Contribute May Look Like:

  • Providing a snack.
  • Helping set up/ tear down.
  • Helping supervise.
  • Leading games.
  • Playing a more involved role.
  • And more!

Requirements:

  • Complete volunteer application.
  • Be an individual who interacts well with other people and desires to be a contributing member of a dynamic ministry team.
  • If able, as needed, be involved in extracurricular youth events.
  • Maintain regular in-person attendance to Sunday morning church.

Position: Small Group Leader

We are all about helping students CROSSOVER from death to life (John 5:24). Saying yes to be a Small Group Leader is saying yes to answering tough questions, talking about important stuff and offering students hope and a reason to believe! An SGL must have a passion to lead students to GROW close to Jesus, CONNECT with others in God's family, SERVE the way God made them and SHARE God's Word. This is a weekly commitment on Wednesday nights for 7-12th graders.

Weekly Responsibilities

  • Be committed to coming every Wednesday (if possible).
  • Be in the FLC by 6:30pm. Plan on staying till 8:40pm.
  • Review the Crossover schedule distributed through the leader chat.
  • Be prayed up and ready to mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically invest in students.
    • (Make an effort to either directly participate in games you are not leading, or be active in cheering on students).
  • Please mingle with students prior to worship, give them an opportunity to see you, their leader worship God, model Christ's love for them and let them get to know you as you get to Know them!
  • Sit with students and help them pay attention.
  • Before a kid can engage in a life of authentic faith, they may need to engage in a conversation about authentic faith. Help students feel welcome in an emotionally and spiritually safe environment so they feel comfortable enough to share their thoughts and feelings. Help them Engage in your small group discussion.
  • Reach out to at least one student a week, via text, call, or in person.
  • Maintain a list of students and pray for them often.
  • Help clean up the FLC before you leave.
  • Maintain regular in-person attendance to Sunday morning church.

Requirements:

  • Complete volunteer application and clearance process.
  • Be acquainted with the developmental characteristics of the students you are working with.
  • Be an individual who interacts well with other people and desires to be a contributing member of a dynamic ministry team.
  • Attend the monthly meeting. (Last Monday at 7:00PM)
  • Be involved as possible in extracurricular youth events.
  • Read, Sign, and Agree with the Crossover SGL Team Covenant.

Hospitality Coordinator

Objective: To ensure a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all students, encouraging regular attendance and fostering a sense of belonging within the youth group.

Responsibilities:

  1. Weekly Commitment:
    • Be present every week at 6:30 PM to welcome students as they arrive.
  2. Student Sign-In:
    • Ensure all students sign in upon arrival.
    • Coordinate and organize student volunteers to assist with sign-in duties, ensuring consistency.
  3. Welcoming Presence:
    • Be a friendly and approachable face that makes students feel valued and eager to participate.
    • Encourage a positive atmosphere by engaging with students and creating a welcoming environment.
  4. VIP Treatment for First-Time Guests:
    • Identify and welcome first-time guests with special attention.
    • Ensure they receive a first-time guest gift.
    • Introduce them to another student who will accompany them throughout the night.
  5. Personal Connection:
    • Take responsibility for ensuring that first-time guests are not left alone at any point during the event.
    • Proactively befriend them and facilitate introductions to other students.
  6. Flexibility:
    • Be prepared to step in and personally perform the welcoming duties if no student volunteers are available.

Social Media Coordinator

Objective: To effectively manage and enhance the online presence of our youth ministry, ensuring engaging content, regular updates, and a visually appealing representation on social media platforms.

Responsibilities:

  1. Team Oversight and Personal Contribution:
    • Oversee a team of youth volunteers responsible for social media activities.
    • Personally contribute to social media efforts, striking a balance between overseeing and actively participating.
  2. Consistent Social Media Presence:
    • Ensure that there is regular content on the Instagram story for every Wednesday meeting and all events.
    • Maintain an active presence on other relevant social media platforms.
  3. Hallway Picture Updates:
    • Regularly update pictures in the hallway to reflect recent events and activities.
    • Ensure a dynamic display that captures the energy and diversity of the youth ministry.
  4. Event Documentation:
    • Capture pictures and videos at every youth ministry event.
    • Compile content for countdown videos, the website, and other promotional materials.
    • Make sure to showcase the vibrancy and excitement of our youth ministry.
  5. Enhancing Visual Appeal:
    • Address the perception of the youth ministry on the website and Instagram.
    • Work towards presenting a dynamic, engaging, and visually appealing representation of our activities.
    • Collaborate with the team to brainstorm and implement creative ideas for content.

Note:

  • The Social Media Coordinator plays a crucial role in shaping the online identity of our youth ministry.
  • Regular communication with the youth team and coordination with event organizers is essential to ensure comprehensive coverage.

Service Coordinator

Objective: To ensure the smooth and timely execution of our youth ministry service, particularly focusing on the coordination of sound, lighting, and slides, leading a team of students to facilitate a seamless transition into small group activities.

Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Team Oversight:
    • Lead and oversee a team of students responsible for sound, lighting, and slides during the youth ministry service.
    • Recruit, train, and schedule students for their respective roles.
  2. Worship Preparation:
    • Load worship songs into Proclaim.
    • Ensure that lyrics are in the correct order and ready for projection.
  3. Booth Oversight:
    • Supervise the booth to guarantee a smooth flow from the beginning of the service to the small group sessions.
    • Ensure there are no delays, and all elements (countdown, music control during games, lighting changes for worship, etc.) are executed seamlessly.
  4. Timely Execution:
    • Start the countdown on time to maintain a punctual schedule.
    • Manage the music transitions during games.
    • Coordinate with the lighting team to ensure appropriate changes during different segments of the service.
  5. Sound Training:
    • Provide minimal sound training for youth members, ensuring basic competence for managing sound-related tasks.
    • Collaborate with the youth members to address any sound-related needs during the service.

Note:

  • The Service Coordinator plays a crucial role in creating an atmosphere conducive to meaningful engagement during small group sessions.
  • Effective communication and training are key components to ensure the success of this role.

Game Coordinator

Objective: To plan, organize, and execute engaging games during youth ministry sessions, fostering a fun and inclusive environment while ensuring smooth transitions and effective room management.

Responsibilities:

  1. Game Planning and Scheduling:
    • Plan and schedule games for each youth ministry session.
    • Coordinate with another leader or student to lead the game with high energy and student engagement.
  2. Supplies and Cost Management:
    • Ensure all necessary supplies for the game are ready to go.
    • Coordinate with leadership to cover any costs associated with the game, keeping in mind the preference to minimize spending.
  3. Timely Execution:
    • Ensure the game starts promptly as the countdown concludes.
    • Facilitate a smooth transition, guiding students back to their seats after the game.
  4. Room Management:
    • Take charge of the room during game time, maintaining control and ensuring a fun atmosphere.
    • Address competitive behavior by making clear and decisive calls, moving past arguments, and emphasizing the primary goal of fun with healthy competition.
  5. Inclusivity:
    • Strive to involve all students in the games, creating an inclusive environment.
    • Be attentive to varying interests and preferences, rotating between athletic and non-athletic games to cater to different student types.

Note:

  • The Game Coordinator is instrumental in setting a positive and enjoyable tone for the youth ministry sessions.
  • Effective communication with other leaders, quick decision-making, and adaptability are crucial for success in this role.

Student Care Coordinator

Objective: To support the Youth Pastor in monitoring the emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being of students, utilizing Planning Center check-ins and proactive communication.

Responsibilities:

  1. Check-in Management:
    • Utilize Planning Center check-ins to keep track of student attendance and promptly note missing students.
  2. Proactive Outreach:
    • Take the initiative to reach out to missing students, expressing care and concern for their well-being.
    • Inform the Youth Pastor about any students who require additional follow-up.
    • Collaborate on strategies to address and support the diverse needs of students.
  3. Extracurricular Tracking:
    • Stay informed about students' extracurricular activities.
    • Share relevant information with the Youth Pastor to ensure awareness and support.
  4. Health Updates:
    • Keep the Youth Pastor informed when students are sick or facing health challenges.
  5. First-Time Guest Outreach:
    • Identify and make note of first-time guests during Wednesday sessions.
    • Coordinate with the Youth Pastor to ensure these guests receive personalized outreach during the week.

Bible Quiz Coach (1-2 people)

Objective: To lead and guide students in Bible quiz activities, fostering a love for scripture memorization, and overseeing team practices and competitions.

Responsibilities:

  1. Team Practices:
    • Conduct weekly or bi-weekly team practices, providing structured and engaging sessions for students to memorize and understand scripture portions.
    • Create an environment that encourages active participation and challenges students to excel.
  2. Knowledge of Bible Quiz Rules:
    • Possess a thorough understanding of Bible Quiz rules and regulations.
    • Stay updated on any rule changes or updates that may occur during the season.
  3. Passion for the Bible:
    • Demonstrate a genuine love for the Bible and a desire to instill that passion in participating students.
    • Encourage a deeper understanding of scripture through meaningful discussions.
  4. Engaging Coaching Style:
    • Be a fun and engaging coach, utilizing interactive methods to make the learning process enjoyable for students.
    • Challenge students to reach their full potential in both scripture memorization and comprehension.
  5. Attendance at Meets:
    • Attend four Saturday meets throughout the season (October, December, January, February).
    • Provide support and guidance to the team during competitions.
  6. Collaboration with Youth Pastor:
    • Work collaboratively with the youth pastor, who will still be involved in meets to offer support and assistance.

Note:

  • The role of the Bible Quiz Coach is vital in shaping the spiritual development of participating students. This position requires commitment to both practices and competitions, as well as a passion for making the Bible an integral part of the students' lives.

Fine Arts Coordinator (1 Main, +volunteers as available)

Objective: To guide and mentor students in discovering, developing, and deploying their God-given gifts through various artistic expressions, leading them through the Fine Arts competition at both the District and National levels.

Responsibilities:

  1. Passion for Art:
    • Exhibit a genuine passion for various forms of art and a personal talent in at least one artistic discipline.
  2. Spiritual Focus:
    • Love God and have a desire to serve Him through the expression of God-given gifts in the realm of art.
    • Encourage students to connect their artistic expression with their faith.
  3. Student-Centric Approach:
    • Have a genuine love for students and a strong desire to help them realize and maximize their God-given artistic potential.
  4. Gift Discovery:
    • Facilitate the process of helping students identify their God-given artistic gifts and interests.
    • Conduct conversations and assessments to understand each student's unique strengths.
  5. Individualized Development Plans:
    • Assist students in creating personalized plans to practice and enhance their God-given artistic abilities.
    • Provide resources, guidance, and mentorship to support their development.
  6. Progress Evaluation:
    • Regularly evaluate students' progress in expressing their God-given artistic gifts.
    • Offer constructive criticism and feedback to aid in continuous improvement.
  7. Fine Arts Competition Attendance:
    • If possible, attend the annual Fine Arts competition, offering support and guidance to students during the event.
    • Facilitate coordination and logistics for student participation.

  • The Fine Arts Coordinator is a key figure in empowering students to discover and express their God-given gifts through various artistic forms.
